OOS Group owns a variety of advanced marine assets offering an exceptional level of support to the Oil & Gas industry, ranging from ship management, engineering, maintenance and operational services. OOS is also a pioneering company at the forefront of innovation in aquaculture. One of their ground-breaking developments is the Semi-Submersible Mussel Farm (SMF), designed to cultivate mussels in the North Sea. As part of their expansion plans, the OOS Group proudly announces the appointment of Mohamed Nassiri as the director of OOS Aquaculture Morocco.
Mohamed Nassiri brings a wealth of experience and a passion for aquaculture to his new role. He has long aspired to bring his technical expertise and the cultural richness of Zeeland to Morocco. Taking charge on June 1st, 2023, as the director of OOS Aquaculture Morocco, Mohamed has assumed the responsibility of acquiring all necessary permits and spearheading the SMF pilot, aiming to achieve operational readiness within a two-month span.
The establishment of OOS Aquaculture Morocco was a carefully considered decision driven by several factors:
- The strategic location near Spain provides a gateway to a vast market for mussels, presenting ample opportunities for growth and profitability.
- Compared to other Mediterranean countries, Morocco is still in the growing stages of mussel farming, offering untapped potential for development.
- With optimal water quality in terms of nutrients and temperature, Morocco proves to be an ideal environment for accelerated growth of mussels.
OOS Aquaculture Morocco aims to expand the SMF project to other countries along the Mediterranean. This visionary endeavour will generate significant employment opportunities as well as stimulate valuable cross-cultural collaboration between Zeeland and Morocco.
